Nivaah addresses urban hunger with a comprehensive response that includes immediate food provision, nutrition education, and resource linkages. The initiative understands that hunger is more than serving 'food'; we have to provide communities with knowledge, tools, and networks to achieve sustainable food security for all families in the future.
The project unfolds through carefully coordinated programs designed for an expanding community impact. With the distribution drive, the initiative features thoughtfully selected combinations of grains, legumes, and cooking essentials chosen for their nutritional benefits and shelf stability. Accompanying each food package, families will receive the Nutri-Dose Leaflets that will serve as guides for simplifying nutrition by explaining which vitamins and minerals the body needs, and where to find them in everyday foods.
The Nutri-Know Sessions hope to develop this further, in addition to directly providing food. These sessions will bring together women from the community for hands-on workshops about the prevalent undernutrition of mothers and children. The focus will be on designing a meal plan to maximize nutrition on a very restricted budget, which will demonstrate to our women how to design a reasonable and healthy meal from what is affordable and available. Additionally, to scaffold the educational efforts, the Nutri-Map Repository will compile a publicly accessible directory of organizations, healthcare professionals, and corporate partners active in hunger relief work, with an attempt to create a lasting resource guide for community members seeking ongoing assistance.Â
The Nutri-Network Pilot has already commenced test distribution methods and community engagement approaches before expanding operations. The initiative has also planned a crowdfunding fundraiser to secure sustainable resource flows for continued donation drives. The project culminates in documenting a white paper research publication that examines connections between proper nutrition and children's school performance, contributing valuable insights to inform future hunger intervention strategies across India's metro cities.
